Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions I hear. If your question isn't here, just write me.

About Me & How I Work

Are you really a solo developer?

Yes. I'm one person. Your project runs through me directly. That means: You talk to me, not an agency. Faster decisions, direct communication, better understanding of your business.

How does collaboration work?

You send me a brief description of your project. We have a call. Then I give you a proposal. If it works, we start. I build, give you regular updates, and you can give feedback. At the end you have a website that does exactly what it should.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends. A simple WordPress website can take 3-4 weeks. A Shopify Headless store 6-8 weeks. A more complex custom project can take several months. I'll discuss a realistic timeline with you in the kick-off call.

Do you also do small tasks? Or only full websites?

Both. I build full websites from scratch. But I also do optimizations on existing sites, performance tweaks, or individual feature development. Whatever you need.

About My Services

WordPress or Shopify? Which is better?

Depends on your use case. WordPress is ideal for blogs, corporate websites, content-focused sites. Shopify specializes in e-commerce. My Shopify Headless solution means maximum flexibility. If both were possible, we'll discuss the pros and cons. My job is to recommend the right technology for you, not the one I prefer building.

What is Headless Shopify?

Normally Shopify is a complete package: backend and frontend together. With Headless, we separate them. Shopify is your backend (inventory, checkout, payments). I build the frontend custom with Astro. Advantage: Faster, unique design, better performance, full control.

I have a large website. Can you build that solo?

Yes, I build large projects too. But that means longer timelines, higher budgets. For really large enterprise projects, it might make sense to work with a team. I'm honest about when I'd recommend bringing in additional freelancers. Your success is more important than my ego.

Do you also do maintenance and support afterward?

Yes. After launch, I'm your support contact. Questions or bugs, write me. For larger projects we can set up a retainer for ongoing optimization and updates.

Pricing & Collaboration

What's your pricing model?

I charge per project, not per hour. You get a fixed price for the agreed scope from day one, no hidden costs. If changes or new features come up after launch, I bill by time in 15-minute increments. That way you only pay for the time I actually spend.

How much does a website cost?

That depends entirely on the scope. A simple website costs less than a Headless Shopify store, and a larger custom project is another step up. After a short conversation I'll give you a concrete proposal with a fixed price, so you know what to expect from day one.

Do you need upfront payment?

I work with a deposit upfront and the rest upon completion. For larger projects we split it into milestones. We'll figure out the exact breakdown in the proposal.

What if I don't like something?

Before we start, we agree on how many revision rounds are included in the project. Within those rounds, you give feedback and I implement changes. I'll also give you honest advice on what works and what doesn't, that's what you hire a professional for. Small tweaks I'm always happy to do along the way. My goal is a result you're happy with that actually performs.

I'm not in Germany. Do you work remote?

100%. I'm fully remote. I work with clients worldwide. Timezone is not a problem. We'll always find a meeting window.

Technology & Performance

Which technologies do you use?

The right technology for the job. For WordPress I build custom themes with PHP, tailored plugins. For Shopify I use Astro for the frontend and the Shopify Admin API. For custom development I use React, Vue, or Astro depending on what makes sense. Performance and maintainability are central.

Is the website fast?

Yes. Performance is not optional for me. That means: Optimized hosting, modern JavaScript frameworks, image optimization, code splitting. Google Lighthouse scores in the 90s are standard.

Is the website secure?

Yes. Security is there from day one. HTTPS, secure dependencies, regular updates, best practices against XSS and injection attacks. When sensitive data is involved, I use proven, secure solutions.

Can I change the website later?

Absolutely. The code is yours. You can bring another developer if you want. With WordPress you can change a lot yourself via the admin panel. With custom development you get well-structured code that other developers can work with.
